Villanova Junior Football Team Victorious

This afternoon, on our back campus, the Junior Wildcats opened their season against the always tough General Amherst Bulldogs.

Play opened up with the Wildcats using an onside kick to start the game.  We recovered and three plays later we were in the endzone!  The rest of the first quarter was dominated in the same manner from the mudders, with the score being 22-0 when the ref's flag signalled the end of the period.  The second quarter was much of the same with the Bulldogs' defense spending the majority of the time on the field.  At the end of the first half, General Amherst had yet to score with Villanova adding to the tally, making it 34-0.

During the rest of the game, every junior player had an opportunity to see the field getting legitimate game experience.

Final score, 40-0 for the good guys! #VillyPride!

VILLANOVA PRACTICES GROWTH MINDSET

VILLANOVA  PRACTICES GROWTH MINDSET - The Power of 'Yet'

Everybody can learn.  The only variable is time.  While some students pick up on things quickly, others may not get it .....yet.  At Villanova, we are introducing the power of one simple word - YET.  The word yet allows students the freedom to make mistakes, to feel less pressure, and to gain confidence that with perseverance, they will get it.

The science shows that making mistakes and working through them encourages physical brain growth.  More synapses and pathways are created allowing people to increase working intelligence. This disproves the fixed mindset that people are born with the amount intelligence that they will ever possess.  It has also been shown that students whose success relied solely on memorization were no longer as successful as those with growth mindsets in both post-secondary and in the workforce.

Here, at Villanova, we are reinforcing the philosophy that changing your words will indeed change your mindset.
