·      Last night your Jr. Boys Volleyball team returned to their earlier form with a 2 sets to 1 win over the Catholic Central Comets. Timely blocks from Josh Evans and Colton Vetor along with strong play from Michael Cordeiro brought the team to victory.

·      Last night the Senior girls basketball team played the back end of back to back at St. Anne's. Despite having only five players for the first half the girls competed well and trailed by 13. However, fatigue caught up to the girls and the were defeated 43-25. The girls league record is now 1 and 1. Practice tonight is at 4pm

 

·      Attention GSA members: We will be having TWO meetings a week starting this Friday.  First lunch people please go to 202 on YOUR lunch  and Second lunch people go to room 104 on YOUR lunch.  New members are ALWAYS welcome.

 

·      Tennis team members who have not handed in their consent forms to Mr. Carosella need to do so before Tuesday's tournament.

·      Hey Wildcats! This Friday, we will be commemorating the children who attended residential school in Canada.  Residential schools were put in place to force aboriginal children out of their beliefs and traditions.  Please accessorize your uniform on Friday in honour of those children who faced many hardships in residential schools.

 

·      Any Senior French Immersion students interested in a private tutoring position are to see Mme Beneteau by Friday September 30th.

 

·      The Junior Football team suffered their first loss of the season last night to Holy Names. Despite the loss, the boys are to be congratulated on their effort throughout the game. On offence, the Wildcats were led by James Hanlon who rushed for 125 yards including a 50 yard touchdown run. Defensively, Dominic Price recorded 8 solo tackles and 2 forced fumbles. Great effort!

 

·      For All interested Costa Rica travelers : There are very limited spots left, get all of your paper work in ASAP. A copy of your passport is also required.  Note: There will be a parents information meeting this Today  in room 228 at 5 o'clock, for all students that have thier paper work in.  Thank you Mr C

·      Today and tomorrow will be the last 2 days to purchase SPC discount cards. They will be available at the beginning of both lunches on for $10.

·      Attention Youth Troop members. There will be a meeting after school today in room 221. New members are always welcome.

 

·      This is a reminder that there will be a social justice meeting after school in Room 208.  New members are always welcome.

 

·      Last night the Sr. Girls basketball took on the Holy Name Knights in their gym. Though the girls had injuries in flu they set the pace for the game and controlled the tempo. In a slow game, your Wildcats upset the Knights by the score of 34-31 for their first win of the season. The girls travel to St. Anne tonight to take on the Saints. Girls the bus is leaving at 2:30.

 

·      Mr. Crep's Period #4 students who are not writing the literacy test during  period#4  are to report to the LCC for attendance with Mr. Sleiman.

 

·      We Will Rock You Dance auditions are taking place today in the auditorium.  Anyone still interested in auditioning can complete the singing and acting portion in room 112 at the beginning of either lunch.  The call back list will be posted at the end of the day on the drama door.  

 

·      Last night the senior boy’s volleyball team secured their first win of the season by defeating Kingsville 3 sets to 0. The boys were trailing in the second set 11-3 but clawed back to secure the victory. Special recognition goes out to Christian Stella for his excellent defense and passing, Dylan Langlois for his great setting, and Matty V for his 7 kills out of left side. Good luck this Thursday against Catholic Central.

·      Math homework help will be available after school today and every Tuesday during the semester, in numerous classrooms in the math wing.  All grades and levels are welcome.

·      There will be a Robotics team meeting after school today in room 210; new members are welcome!

 

·      Students interested in participating in the University of Windsor's Science Olympiad should see Ms. Russo right after this announcement.

 

·      Senior Girls basketball practice tonight from 2:30-4:00. Would Kate Latella and Fina Pironne see Mr. Lesperance in room 116 at the start of period 2.

 

·      Junior band will start at 3:15 today and run until 4:30pm.

 

·      On Thursday night your Sr boys football team took on Amherst and brought home the "W"! With a score of 23-12 our TDs were scored by Zach Coste with the first one, and then Jacob Savoni scored the next 2, with Avery Grondin kicking in the remainder of our points with a field goal and 2 converts! Our Sr boys take on Saint Anne's in our own backfield this coming Thursday at 3pm! Mark your calendars for Thursday and come cheer on our boys!

·      Huge thanks go out to everyone who participated in last week’s Super Hero Walk fundraiser for the Matthew House.  Congratulations to Ms. Allaire’s period 3 class for donating the most money and for helping to make the fundraiser a success.  You are the winners of the pizza party!  The director of the charity was very happy and appreciative of our help. Way to represent Villanova!!!

·      Sr. Girls Basketball Practice tonight at 2:30.

 

·      Junior band rehearsal on Monday will start later at 3:15 and will run until 4:30pm.

 

·      Yesterday, your Jr. boys Volleyball team opened their season with a 3 set win at Holy Names. Strong performances from Colton Vetor and Alec Boucher lead the team to victory. The team's home opener will be Tuesday against Kingsville at 4pm.

 

·      We Will Rock You audition monologues and sign up sheets are now posted on the drama classroom door across from the Tech rooms. Stop by room 112 to sign up for a preferred day and time. See Ms. Grado for details or to answer any questions.

 

·      Attention all students who auditioned for the dance team:  Once again it was a very difficult task for the panel to select from all of the talent this year. Thank you for coming out and sharing your abilities and talents with us. The list will be posted today, in the trophy case outside of the auditorium, after school.  I would like to congratulate the students that will be part of the Villanova Dance Team for the 2016-17 season.  Rehearsal will start Mon. Sept. 26th at 2:25 ready to dance.

 

·      Any tennis team member that has not yet signed the eligibility forms should see Mr. Carosella today at the beginning of either lunch.

 

·      Yesterday your wildcat golf team competed at Kingsville Golf and Country club and we have highlighrts. Under ideal conditions your girls golf team lead by Sophia Fallea, Olivia Morasutti, and Kate Latella shot a combined score of 146 and destroyed the competition by 10 strokes. The girls brought the WECSSA CHAMPIONSHIP back where it belongs and qualified for SWOSSA on October 3rd. Congratulation girls. The boys team consisting of Dante Buratto, Alex Aversa, Joey Corio and Christian Stella fought hard to the finish but fell one stroke short of qualifing for SWOSSA as a team. Dante Buratto and Joey Corio shot a 79 and 80 finishing in the top 10 single scores which made the cut for the SWOSSA championship. Great showing at WECSSA lets continue the run at SWOSSA.

 

·      Due to the mass schedule, and PD day there will be NO GSA meeting this week.  See you next week.

·      If you are interested in a fun-filled, enriching week spent with other Canadian youth from across Canada, you just might LOVE Encounters Canada.  It's a program that is run in Ottawa several weeks throughout the year with a different theme for each week.  You stay at the Terry Fox Centre and are engaged in several fun activities based around the theme of the week.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Beltran in the attendance office.

 

·      Attention all students who live in the town of Essex.  The town of Essex is looking to appoint two student Council members to their board for the upcoming school year.  If interested, please see Mrs. Curran or Mrs. Spada in Prep 3.

 

·      Congratulations to the Junior Boys Football team on their 50 - 0 win over Lajeunesse last night. Offensively, the Wildcats were led by James Hanlon who had 5 touchdowns (3 passing and 2 rushing). Matt Burrows also had a stellar game with 2 touchdowns. Defensively, the Wildcats were led by Dominc Price, Ethan Mackinnon and Nic Pavia. Great job boys!

 

·      Today is the last day donations for this Sunday’s Super Hero Walk are being collected.  Miss Allaire’s period 3 class is in the lead for the pizza party right now, but your class can still catch up.  Donate during period 3 even if it’s $1, everything is appreciated.

·      There is a jazz band rehearsal tonight after school.  And the senior concert band will rehearse Thursday night after school. All music rehearsals are in room 106 and new members are welcome.

 

·      A reminder that there is a Student Council meeting Thursday after school in the LCC. Important events will be discussed!

 

·      All grade 9's that would like to represent their grade on Student Council this year, please sign up in the main office. You have until the end of the week to sign up. Get ready for an amazing year wildcats!

 

·      We Will Rock You audition monologues and signup sheets are now posted on the drama classroom door across from the Tech rooms.  Stop by room 112 to sign up for a preferred day and time. See Ms. Grado for details or to answer any questions.

·       A reminder that cross country practices continue this week. New runners are still welcome. Please meet in the atrium at 2:30

 

·       Mr. Brunone and Mr. Pascot would like to that all those who tried out for the golf team. The girls and boys will be competing at WECSSA on Wednesday Sept 21. Stay tuned for highlights. Unfortunately tonight’s practice at Fox Glenn is cancelled.

 

·       There is a junior concert band rehearsal tonight after school.  The choir will rehearse Tuesday night after school. All music rehearsals are in room 106 and new members are welcome.

 

·       If you love to act, dance, sing or just love the music of Queen then try out for this year's musical We Will Rock You. Acting and singing auditions will take place on Sept. 26th and 27th. ·       Reminder that today during 3rd period, teachers will be collecting dollar donations for next Saturday’s superhero walk.  You’ll notice on the pledge form that there is a space for your address.  Students are only to fill this out if they donate $25 or more so the charity can send you a tax receipt.  During common time an announcement will be made for teachers to please send one student to the main office with the envelope even if your class has yet to collect any donations. Thank you.
