·      Due to the staff meeting, the weight room will be closed tonight for all non-track & field members.  Any questions - see Mr. LeClair in room 134.

 

·      Track and Field conditioning begins today! Be changed and ready to go at 2:30.  Meet upstairs outside of the weight room.

 

·      All members on the hockey team in grades 9 and 10 are to meet in room 203 on Tuesday at 8am for an important meeting. 

 

·      Good luck curlers on your big game tonight afterschool at 320 at Roseland. This is a season changing game because if Villanova wins we are on our way to WECSSAA and SWOSSAA! Hurry hard and sweep!!

 

·      Students that are interested in writing the University of Toronto National Biology Competition this year, the signup sheet is located on the door to room 223.

 

·      Attention all current grade 10 and 11 students! If you are interested in running for the position of Student Trustee for the 2017-2018 school year, please see Mrs. Spada or Mrs. Curran to sign-up and for more information.  You have until Tuesday, February 28th to sign-up.

 

·      If you enjoy to sing and would like to learn how to sing in an ensemble, choir rehearsals will resume on Tuesday after school in the music room.  New Members are welcome.  The junior concert band has a rehearsal tonight after school.

 

·      Are you ready Villanova, the La Villanova Cafe will be opening for lunch starting tomorrow in rm 107 and we will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays of every week.

 

·      Tomorrow we will be offering our Jumbo Pizza, Chicken burgers and fries and Quesdillas and all served with a side salad. Hope to see you there.

 

·      A reminder to the sr badminton team tryouts continue tonight at 4:00.  Junior team, tryouts continue tomorrow- girls at 2:30 and boys at 4:00.  Thanks to all the boys who try out on Friday, boys are reminded to check the list for all those names who were invited back for another tryout.

 

·      The students named in the attached file will be called to the cafeteria at the beginning of period 2 today to complete some paperwork for the Waterloo math contest that they will be writing on Tuesday morning.  If the student cannot leave class at that time, please tell them to contact Mrs. Hyland in room 236 or Miss Baltrusiunas in room 233 before the end of Monday.  These students will also be absent from period 1 on Tuesday, February 28th in order to participate in the Waterloo math contests and may be late to period 2.

 

·      Thank you for supporting our math contest participants.Sorry for the error - Students will be called out at the beginning of period 2. 

 

·      Please come out and support the Villanova Girls' Hockey Team as they play game 1 of the WECSSA finals against St. Anne's at the Libro Arena at 3:15 today.

·       Students that are interested in writing the University of Toronto National Biology Competition this year, the signup sheet is located on the door to room 223.

 

·       If you enjoy singing and would like to learn how to sing in an ensemble, choir rehearsals will resume on Tuesday after school in the music room.  New Members are welcome.

 

·       The weight room will be closed today after school. Workouts will resume on Monday.

 

·       Last night the Junior Girls Volleyball team completed their journey as they won the SWOSSA title by dominating and beating Ursuline College from Chatham in three games 25 - 12, 25 - 12, 25 - 16. The girls finish the season as champs and with an undefeated record which is no easy feat. Congratulations on a fantastic season and best of luck to those grade 10's moving up to senior next year. Mrs. Burke and Mr. Zajacz are extremely proud to be Wildcats and to have had the opportunity to coach this group of fine young ladies.

 

·       Any student who is interested in submitting a creative writing piece to be considered for the OECTA Creative Writing Competition, please bring your submission to Mr. Janisse in Prep Room #6 by Monday, Feb. 27th at 2:15 pm.  The following are the categories for submission: Short Stories, Poems, Plays, and Nonfiction for two divisions (Grade 9-10 students) and (Grade 11-12 students).  Thank you.  Mr. Janisse

 

·       Attention all junior students trying out for badminton tonight there is a junior practice for boys only. Please make you way to the gym right after school to set up. Next week junior practice will take place on Tuesday and Thursday girls will be at 2:30 and junior boys at 4:00. Senior practice will continue on Monday and Wednesday of next week at 4:00.

 

·       Yesterday, despite carrying much of the play, and hitting two crossbars, the boys' hockey team couldn't catch a bounce, and lost 2-1 to Holy Names.  The team wishes goodbye to graduating veterans: Dan Pignanelli, Jake Deluca, Bryce McGregor, Lucas DiLuca, and Captains Jake Menard, Curtis Cunningham and Ernie Godden.  On a bright note, all of the seniors graduate with at least one WECSSAA championship and an OFSAA silver medal. 

 

·       Congratulations to all swimmers who participated in SWOSSAA yesterday at the Aquatic center. All swimmers did a great job representing VILLANOVA, we are so proud of your efforts. Congratulations to Luca Chiandussi, and Billy Griebe, who will continue to OFSSAA!

 

  • Reminder to track and field participants, practices begin on MONDAY after school. Anyone who missed sign up yesterday, and would like to participate in Track and Field, please see Ms Burke in room 111 on your lunch today.

·      Sr badminton tryouts will continue tonight at 4:00.  Junior badminton tryouts will begin on Friday for boys only at 2:30 after school. Listen to further announcements for next week’s schedule for both Jr. and Sr tryout times.

 

·      Yesterday the boys' hockey team defeated Holy Names by a score of 7-6 - in overtime in semi-final action.  The game winning goal was scored by Dean DeLuca.  The deciding game 3 is today at South Windsor arena.

 

·      Well guess what Wildcats, our Curling team WON their match last night against HNH. This win places them one game away from WECSSAA finals. Come on out Monday to Roseland to see if Villanova will win a spot in WECSSAA. It will be a great game against Massey who has only lost 1 game all year. Gooooooo Wildcats!

 

·      Do you like free cookies and juice? Would you rather give your blood to people in need than to mosquitoes? Would you like to help save up to three lives? If you have answered yes to any of these questions and are 17 or older, please consider donating blood here at Villanova’s blood clinic on March 7th. ·       The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test will be written on Thursday, March 30th.  A list of names has been posted on the glass outside of the Learning Commons Centre for those students who will be writing the test on this day.  We ask that students check this list for accuracy.  If your name is missing from the list, or is on the list but shouldn=t be, please notify Mrs. Rosati in the main office by 12:00 noon today.  Please note that your legal name is displayed and not your preferred name. Students who are eligible to write the literacy test on Thursday, March 30th are those students who:

o   Entered Grade 9 in the 2015 - 2016 school year or . . .

o   Currently a grade 10 student or . . .

o   New to Ontario or . . .

o   Previously unsuccessful in passing the Literacy Test.

 

·       Let's go go go go Wildcats! Tonight our Villy curlers enter the curling rink at Roseland for Round 1 of playoffs for WECSSAA against HNH. Game starts at 3:30, see you there!

 

·       There will be a meeting Thursday morning at 8:05 for all boys in grade 9 and 10 interested in playing for villanova's junior boys soccer team.  The meeting will take place in the phys.ed hallway .

 

·       Sr badminton tryouts will continue tonight at 4:00.  Junior badminton tryouts will begin on Friday for boys only at 2:30 after school. Listen to further announcements for next weeks schedule for both Jr. and Sr tryout times.

 

·       Any new transfer student semester 2 or even semester 1 who is interested in playing sports at Villi in the next calendar year should visit the phys-ed office for an eligibility request form if they have not done so already.  New students to Villanova will not be eligible unless the transfer paper is completed. 

 

·       There is a swim meeting for all swimmers in the atrium right now. All swimmers please meet for a meeting in the atrium.

 

·       Those students who are attending the cancer symposium at the university tomorrow and have not yet seen Mr. Carosella for details should do so ASAP.

 

·       If you were invited to the Great Start Breakfast for March 9th- we would love to see you Please submit your RSVP's to the main office by this week. If your parents can not make it to the breakfast you are still welcomed to attend. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to be honoured for your achievements.  You will receive a certificate and be recognized for your achievement.  Please attend.

·       A reminder to the students participating in the IClimb event at the WFCU next week. Your pledge forms and minimum $20 in pledges is due on Tues Feb. 21st. Please submit the forms and pledges to Mr. Strong, Mr. Beale or Ms. Laporta.

 

·       Soccer season is right around the corner! There will be an important meeting for any boys interested in trying out for the senior boys soccer team next Tuesday at 8am in room 207. That's Tuesday at 8am in room 207.

 

·       The GSA will meet today, both lunches- lunch 1 in 104 and lunch 2 in 202.. New members always welcome. 

 

·       Students who will be writing the grade 9, 10 and 11 Waterloo math contests are asked to check their mytools2go email accounts for information about the contests.

·       This is a reminder to Europe travellers to bring in there pasta dinner tickets to Ms. Bastien or Mrs. Voegeli.  The Fogolar Furlan Club needs firm numbers by Feb. 21. Make sure to check out the website regularly, the updated itinerary was posted yesterday.

 

·       Any junior or senior player interested in playing badminton are asked to sign up outside the phys-ed office.  Please listen to further announcements for practice times.  Please sign up so appropriate practice times can accommodate all interested.

 

·       ---READ ALL WEEK PLEASE --- Congratulations goes out to our Villanova Wildcat curlers as they made it to the semi-finals. The big match is next Wednesday at Roseland at 330 pm. Come on out for some exciting ice action Villanova. The sliding rocks and screaming fans won't let it be a dull match! See you there!!

 

·       Bored this Wednesday? Want something to do? Have some excessive school spirit? Well then we have the opportunity for you. Come out and cheer on the Junior Girls volleyball team as they take on Vista Academy for the WECSSAA Championship.  The ladies are excited to create yet another ESPN Classic. ·      Tomorrow is our Heart and Stroke Fundraiser.  In order to dress down, you will need to bring in $2 and 3 canned goods.  You are encouraged to wear read and pink in honour of Valentine's day.

 

·      Junior concert band rehearsal is cancelled for tonight. The senior concert band will be rehearsing tonight instead of Thursday night. Jazz band is cancelled on Wednesday.

 

·      Please release all curlers today at 2 for their last season game in Kingsville.

·      Kaitlyn Soresi, Olivia Silva, Brandon Presley, Vanessa Avolio, Olivia Silva, Meg Frank and Jordan Stoll please see Ms. Bastien following announcements.

 

·      Last night the Junior Girls Volleyball team showed the Falcons how it is done by defeating St. Annes in 3 straight games with no collapse. The girls will now play for the WECSSAA title here in our gym on Wednesday Feb.15. Come out and cheer on this team to a championship, you will not be disappointed. Practice tonight at 2:15 ladies!

 

·      There is a senior concert band rehearsal tonight after school.

 

·      Love is in the air wildcats, get a rose chocolate gram for your friends on lunch today and Friday! The chocolate roses are $3 for 1 and $5 for 2

 

·      Any grade 9, 10 or 11 student who is interested in writing the Waterloo math contest on Feb. 28th, and has not been asked about it by your math teacher, must see Mrs. Hyland in room 232 or Miss Baltrusiunas in room 233 sometime today.
